Carbon steel cut wire shot is considered as not hazardous in solid form. However, certain methods such as shot blasting, tumbling, cutting, grinding, melting, and welding could result in some dangerous material.
Material | Carbon Steel |
Size | 0.40 to 2.50 mm |
Hardness | 45-50 HRC, 50-55 HRC, 55-60 HRC |
Density | Up to 7.8 g/cm3 |
Usage/Application | Shot peening and Shot blasting |
When a cut wire shot is used for the shot blasting process it produces a good surface finish and plays a significant role in the production economy. A component having hardness 40 HRC or less than low-hardness High-Manganese steel cut wire shot is most preferable to use. Use of high manganese low carbon wire shot show low wears and tear in the sand blasting machine. It also increases sand blasting nozzle life.
